I ask you though, in listening to what I say, to remember that all advice can only be a product of the man who gives it. What is truth to one may be disaster to another.” – Hunter S. Thompson
If you think you are beaten, you are. No matter how awful things may seem, there is always someone who has it worse than you. Unless you are a prince who was meant to be spared all challenges in life, you have the right challenge in front of you. Attitude is truly a choice…treat life with a smile and laugh away your fears. Choose happiness and learn that it is both a precursor to your achievements, and the result of it.
Take pride in everything you do. Don’t expect the world early in your career. You will perform tasks that you despise. Walking away will only lead to more failures. The easy way out you will learn, is easy. Cave to this temptation and you will have an easy time failing in everything you do. If it’s important enough to you, you will find a way to make it happen; if not, you will find an excuse. Living a life of negativity will make these lures to quit only greater. Be a positive force in your own life before you try to be a positive influence in others’ lives. Imagine your future with a hopeful vision and raise your level of aspirations.
Positive thinkers have an easier time getting over their fears of failure and deciding to take on new adventures and challenges. Go out and make your own life happen. You are the best, and only you. No one owes you anything! No one is there to always have your back when difficulties arise. Believe in yourself and do it alone. Quit complaining and understand life won’t always be stress-free. Just because something negative happens doesn’t mean your attitude should be either…life won’t always go down the easy path all the time. Sometimes you have to make your own path and trust yourself.
Let your virtues speak for themselves. Doing so will not only provide a more confident you, but can diminish anxiety and depression. Agree to let positive thinking change the way you view yourself and the world, after all, the world takes you at your own autonomy. Your attitude is your accountability…own up and take control. It’s not our situations that describe us, but how we react to them. Travel down a path you’ve never journeyed before, and observe what’s there. Be inquisitive, and let your curiosity lead you in the way of new innovations.
Our good friend Albert Einstein once said, “A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life are based on the labors of other men living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received.” Reflect on this quote for a little while….don’t we all owe it to not only ourselves, but humankind, to grow each day and soak in every piece of knowledge that we can and return the favor? Zig Ziglar quoted it best in his All of Us Are in Debt article, “We certainly owe a debt to those people whose messages have been encouraging and positive, as well as informative and instructional.”
Keep your chin up. Life’s battles are not always won. Your own experiences will teach you more than an article like this ever will. Create positive action and don’t be afraid to face challenges and rejections. It’s all in your state of mind. If you are going to think, you might as well think positive.
